Typical assignments include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Reviews, scans, summarizes, files and organizes investigative reports, testimonies, interviews, files, and documents for a variety of civil cases.
  • Reads and analyzes reports of investigating agencies.
  • Sorts, reads and organizes subpoenaed documents.
  • Identifies and summarizes important documents.
  • Establishes and maintains an effective system of compiling, indexing, organizing, and retrieving information and its sources.
  • Assists AUSAs, agents, paralegals, and legal assistants with discovery and in preparation for trial by compiling, organizing, and indexing various types and forms of evidence. *Marks and identifies ! trial exhibits and drafts a list of exhibits to be offered at ! trial. *Prepares narrative summaries, charts, tables, graphs, or other visual aids to be used in hearings, depositions, meetings and at trial.
  • Assists with copying, mailing, closing files, and maintaining pleadings.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, including providing technical advice to attorneys and staff on legal automation requirements, system capabilities, and on information system analysis, development, and installation.
  • Performs other related tasks, as necessary.
The Employee should have the ability to work and interact professionally and effectively with all levels of staff. Basic Qualifications *Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • One year of experience on major litigation support projects or undergraduate degree. *Demonstrated ability to work independently in a team environment.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work as a team player in a professional office.
  • Skills in meeting and deali! ng with people in a courteous and tactful manner.
  • Requires hands-on familiarity with the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, data processing environments, including office automation networks, PC-based databases such as MS Access or others databases and other applications, internet and server-based databases and other applications.
  • Should be a knowledgeable user of the Government's office and network environment, including but not limited to, word processing, spreadsheet, imaging, and hardware systems.
  • Some walking, standing, bending and carrying of moderately heavy boxes (up to 25 lbs).
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen. Desired skills Experience working in a Government and/or legal environment as a Legal Assistant/Paralegal, preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office software programs (i.e., Word, Excel, MS Access or other databases and Outlook), Adobe ! Acrobat Professional, strongly preferred.
  • Attention to detail.!
  • Litigation support experience,
helpful to include automation.
  • Experience with Concordance, CaseMap, Trial Director, or similiar software.
  • Ability to scan documents and import them into databases for use in litigation support, and to manipulate, edit, redact, and copy data onto CDs, DVDs, and other media.
  • Ability to operate courtroom presentation equipment, stronlgy preferred.
  • Experience performing legal research in Lexis/Nexis and /or Westlaw, strongly preferred.
  • Current or active clearance.
