An employer-paid contribution plan is available with a reduced gross salary.

The successful candidate will start at the minimum of the salary range (external candidates). Per Nevada State Legislature, State of Nevada Classified employees are required to take 48 hours of unpaid furlough time per fiscal year (part-time prorated) through June 30, 2015. Annual step increases have been frozen until June 30, 2014. The Investigation Division's Elko Sergeant position will include the following duties: Supervise full and/or part-time allied law enforcement agency officers assigned to the task force.

This will include annual evaluations, overtime approval, shift adjustments and call-outs. Prepare for, participate and pres! ent quarterly task force accomplishment reports to the Executi! ve Board members of the agencies that participate in the task force. This includes statistical summaries, case highlights, grant budget status, staffing issues, future operational plans, equipment needs, forfeiture status report, etc. Work with allied law enforcement agencies to pursue potential grant funding, help prepare grant applications, quarterly grant statistical reports, and manage grant award budgets.

This Sergeant position will report to a regional lieutenant located in Winnemucca. Supervision of one Administration Assistant III, and general office management. Manage cooperating sources and undercover operating funds. Must be available to adjust shifts to meet case demands and be available for after hour calls-outs.

. Overnight travel is expected for training or operational needs. Overnight travel would not be expected to exceed 5% - 10% of your overall work week over a given year. Maintain open, professional and cooperative lines of communicatio! n with department heads from regional law enforcement agencies and the District Attorney's Office.

Must have a valid Peace Officers Standard Training (POST) certificate (at Category 1) or have reciprocity (POST.NV.GOV to research) with Nevada POST to be considered for this position. Also, external candidates must pass physical fitness exam and the POST on-line reciprocity training. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Completion of a Category I Peace Officer Nevada P.O.S.T. approved law enforcement academy and three years of law enforcement experience, two years of which were at the journey level; OR two years of experience as a DPS Officer II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Notes Applicant must meet and maintain current Peace Officer's Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.)! requirements as established in the Nevada Revised Statutes and Nevada ! Administrative Code. Incumbent must pass the Peace Officer's Standards & Training (P.O.S.T.) fitness test and possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the essential functions of as a condition of continuing employment. Incumbent must meet firearms qualification/certification standards and proficiency requirements as established by agency policy. Some DPS Officer II and DPS Sergeant positions are granted a salary adjustment of 5% for complex investigative responsibilities or the supervision of DPS Officer II's performing complex investigations that require additional experience and expertise.

These positions will be identified at the time of recruitment and are assigned to the Investigations Division, State Fire Marshal's Office, Major Accident Investigation Team, and the State's Fusion Centers. Specific duties assigned to DPS Officer II positions are described in the Benchmark Descriptions. Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position ha! s been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.

A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment. This position is subject to call-out or call-back. A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant. Statewide travel is required.
