Criminal Investigators in the Attorney General's Investigations Division conduct fraud investigations involving violations of federal and/or State laws pertaining to a specific program or regulatory area such as Medicaid fraud, workers' compensation fraud, consumer protection or other areas; and investigat! e alleged criminal offenses committed by State officers or employees. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. The successful applicant will be expected to conduct criminal investigations relating to Boards and Commissions, State employees, Open Meeting Law Violations, Public Integrity Investigations, High Tech Crimes, computer crimes, Identity theft Crimes, crimes occurring within the prisons walls and conflict of interest cases as assigned. Duties also include criminal matters which fall within NRS 228.
Applicants must have the ability to maintain a large caseload and possess exceptional case management skills. To see full Class Specifications visit: http://hr.nv.gov/Resources/ClassSpecs/Class_Specifications-13_0/ To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an a! ccredited college or university in criminal justice, police sc! ience, or closely related field; current Category II POST certification in Nevada; and one year of criminal investigation and law enforcement experience involving standard investigative and enforcement techniques utilized to enforce local, state and/or federal and agency laws, preparation of detailed investigative reports, and implementation of agency program goals and objectives; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education; current Category II Post certification in Nevada; and three years of criminal investigative and law enforcement experience involving standard investigative and enforcement techniques utilized to enforce local, state and/or federal laws, statutes and regulations, preparation of investigative reports and implementation of agency program goals and objectives; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; OR one year of experience as an AG Criminal Investigator I in Nevada State service. Special Notes AG Criminal Investigator II, AG C! riminal Investigator Supervisor and AG Deputy Chief Investigator must maintain Nevada POST Category II certification as a condition of continuing employment Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, positions in this series have been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in these positions must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances.
Persons offered employment in this series must submit to a background, medical, and psychological evaluation. A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
