Provides advice to internal clients on a intellectual property legal matters, including semi-complex risks faced by company, and writes and submits intellectually property-related documents on their behalf as well as represent them in court or at tribunal hearings. Operates within the context of well defined procedures. Assigned to intellectual property-related legal projects / processes / workflows that typically impact some internal clients; actions sometimes influence the work of other team members, other teams, some management d! ecisions, several short- and mid-term cases / issues / and out! comes of customers and other IGT units. Completes many semi-complex intellectual property-related legal tasks in resourceful and effective ways by: ensuring intellectual property legal compliance of company activity; advises on the interpretation, application and enforcement of applicable laws and regulations; reviews laws, rules and regulations affecting company operations and advises on needed steps / changes. Ensures company complies with intellectual property-related regulatory requirements and filings and with commercial and contractual obligations. Composes and reviews legal documents (e.g., patent and license applications, contracts, regulatory and compliance documents, transactional documents) and correspondence; prepares contracts in support of IGTâs business operations, and performs legal due diligence on company activities related to intellectually property matters. Drafts and negotiates semi-complex legal documents that support company transactions. Develops a! nd delivers training on legal compliance to clients. Utilizes Juris Doctor-level research and analysis skills.
SKILLS/ EXPERIENCE
Required:

Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law
.
·
Three years of work experience in job offered or three years of work experience in an intellectual property-related occupation;
·
Must be a member of a State Bar in the United States;
·
Must have successfully passed the Examination for Registration to Practice in Patent Cases Before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (Patent Bar);
·
Drafting patent applications for filing before the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO);
·
Negotiating and drafting IP licensing agreements regarding the licensing of patents, copyrights and trademarks;
·
Conducting searches relating to patentability (novelty), validity, freedom-to-oper! ate and infringement concerning company initiatives;
·
Conducting long-term patent landscape studies to identify trends and relationships in a technology field;
·
Delivering competitive intelligence and identifying potential research and licensing opportunities;
·
Present and describe intellectual property issues using written reports and oral presentations to senior management;
·
Experience in software development or industrial engineering.
