Job Summary

The Market Loss Prevention Director (this individual will cover a territory which encompasses Las Vegas, Northern California, Utah, I! daho and surrounding areas)is responsible for the execution, d! irection, advising and oversight of the District Loss Prevention Managers and all of the Loss Prevention plans, programs and activities within geographically diverse markets and divisions, enterprise-wide in order to reduce shrink, minimize company liability/exposure as well as protect assets, resources and staff. Impact of the MLPD functions is in the protection of gross profits and sales of tens of millions of dollars.

The MLPD is responsible for the hiring, developing, certifying and maintaining a staff of District Loss Prevention Managers charged with the implementation of LP investigations, programs, goals and objectives. The MLPD collaborates with Market Vice Presidents, Legal, and other departments and divisions as well as federal and multiple state and local agencies to perform broad-based market level analysis across enterprise wide business units to anticipate trends and reduce enterprise exposure to compliance issues and financial losses.

Job Re! sponsibilities
Will cover a territory which encompasses Las Vegas, Northern California, Utah, Idaho and surrounding areas.
Assigns, directs and provides final approval for more than 100 market-wide investigations per month. Counsels District Loss Prevention Managers in Multi-state markets, which involves internal issues, such as employee relations, human relations, compliance and policy issues, and external incidents, such as drug diversion, fraud, robberies, burglaries and organized retail crime, plus determining the course of action appropriate within the specified state law. Responsible for reviewing cases for accuracy, investigative completeness and legal compliance. Advises, consults and executes company investigations, which may be sensitive in nature and includes the utilization of confidential investigative techniques and are designed to maintain fair employment practices in order to minimize Company exposure. Provides investigative, safety, liability and se! curity guidance, as well as advanced leadership and investigative guida! nce to all assigned LP team members across multiple markets and widely separated geographical areas.
Develops and directs innovative programs, processes and strategies for identifying and analyzing profit and loss concerns through the use of financial statements, exceptions reporting mediums and market wide supervision visits. Develops and provides ongoing guidance, direction coaching and expertise to market leadership, district supervision and management in the development, enhancement and effective use of various enterprise wide source systems and databases, which may impact fraud prevention, profit protection, drug diversion control, personnel safety and security. Directs actions based on solutions that maximize the benefits across enterprise wide business needs. Evaluates and compares the efficacy on ROI of loss control processes across various business enterprises.
Oversees and assesses team impact and effectiveness through travel to assigned geographic areas. ! Directs and empowers market teams to achieve strategic and tactical objectives in support of Corporate, Divisional and Market goals. Makes decisions and implements actions that are designed to achieve Company goals and objectives. Provides direction and promotes teamwork across enterprise-wide channels to ensure management and district compliance with policies, procedures and programs. Provides comprehensive and actionable reporting to include recommendations for corrective actions and other appropriate solutions to control and minimize shrink. Provides for the security of facilities, employees and customers. Formulates operating guidelines, which promotes collaboration and leadership across multiple channels.
Develops and maintains a cohesive working relationship with government and law enforcement agencies including, but not limited to, the US Secret Service, Drug Enforcement Agency, and OSHA. Organizes and coordinates LP team initiatives in affiliation with both nati! onal and local organizations such as National Retail Federation, Retail! Industry Leaders Association, National Association of Drug Diversion Investigators, etc. Actively participates in business continuity and recovery programs in markets and represents Walgreens at meetings, seminars and functions that support these initiatives.
Develops, executes and directs plans and strategies to implement and maintain the Loss Prevention Programs within assigned markets. Formulates, develops and executes policies and programs with strategic focus and actionable goals. Participates in strategic meetings and collaborates with MVPs to address shrink issues, gross profit goals and specific market-wide concerns. Proactively identifies LP issues that may or may not be apparent. Researches issue, brings to team for consensus and develops strategies to divert losses that have or may occur as a result of the identified issue.
Directs and executes the recruiting, hiring, training and long term development of District Loss Prevention Managers. Through assess! ment, evaluation and analysis, formulates the creation and design of training and development programs to enhance supervisory proficiency levels and ensure continuing professional expertise and development. Responsible for the oversight of all hiring documentation and certifications for other specialized training. Facilitates the orientation and training of DMs on-boarding program designed to assist with educating and developing teamwork with the LP Department.
Directs and implements team supervision efforts and reporting across an average of 400+ enterprise-wide facilities and operations with their assigned markets, including non-store Health and Wellness locations. Directs focus of LP staff in maximizing gross profit and shrinkage programs with long-term perspective and executes processes to meet Company strategic objectives.
Collaborates at all levels of field and corporate management concerning required compliance and audit reviews and initiatives. Executes, dir! ects and coordinates plans, programs and initiatives to ensure adherenc! e to federal, state, and local laws plus regulations that have the potential for significant, negative impact on corporate profit as well as exposure to fines, litigation and licensure concerns.
Directs and coordinates market(s) efforts related to Pharmacy theft, fraud and diversion to identify and protect against material losses and HIPAA violations in order to minimize Company exposure to fines and licensure issues and maintain public safety. Works with physical security strategies and investigative processes, exception and policy development and implementation, as well as coordination of activities through the DEA, Boards of Pharmacy, District Attorneys, local task forces and other associated law enforcement agencies.
Collaborates with the MVPs for final approval of all capital expenditures involving the purchase and installation of CCTV systems. Conducts cost analysis of security guard/police services and other facility security protection materials and equipmen! t.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications & Interests
Bachelor’s Degree and at least 3 years of law enforcement/criminal investigations/loss prevention experience OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 5 years of law enforcement/criminal investigations/loss prevention experience.
At least 2 years of experience evaluating information to determine compliance with standards, laws, and regulations.
At least 2 years of experience establishing and maintaining relationships with governmental and/or law enforcement agencies.
At least 2 years of experience diagnosing, isolating, and resolving complex issues and recommending and implementing strategies to resolve problems.
Experience developing strategic initiatives which align with business goals and budget.
Basic level skill in Microsoft Word (for example: opening a document, cutting, pasting and aligning text, selecting font type and size, changing margins and column width, sorting, in! serting bullets, pictures and dates, using find and replace, undo, spel! l check, track changes, review pane and/or print functions).
Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel (for example: opening a workbook, inserting a row, selecting font style and size, formatting cells as currency, using copy, paste and save functions, aligning text, selecting cells, renaming a worksheet, inserting a column, selecting a chart style, inserting a worksheet, setting margins, selecting page orientation, using spell check and/or printing worksheets).
Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint (for example: inserting, rearranging, hiding and deleting slides, navigating between slides, increasing list level, adding, centering and editing text, changing views, inserting a table or a note, moving objects, printing outline view and/or running a slide show).
At least 2 years of experience planning, developing, and managing departmental expense and capital budgets.
At least 5 years of experience indirectly managing team members, including assist! ing in the development, training and assignment of work/projects to other team members OR at least 5 years of experience directly managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating, and directing people as they work.
Willing to travel at least 30% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications & Interests
Criminal Justice or Loss Prevention Degree.
Certification in Wicklander-Zulawski/Reid Certification as granted by John E. Reid Associates/Wicklander/Zulawski & Associates.
Certification in LPC as granted by Loss Prevention Foundation.
At least 5 years of multi-store or chain drug store Loss Prevention experience.
At least 2 years of experience as a District Loss Prevention Manager in Walgreens.
