Administrative Assistants perform a variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; o! ffice management; and budget monitoring. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. Administrative Assistants perform a varitety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties such as maintaining records and files; composing and editing correspondence; data entry; office management; and budget monitoring. The selected candidate for this position will aslo be required to possess quality written and verbal communications skills and honed organizational and clerical skills; have paitience and understanding while working with the Medicaid and Nevada Check-Up recipient population; possess a degreee of knowledge and proficiency suffficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training; and be flexible in performing other job duties as assigned.
This position will respond to requests for information from various sources including internal staff, ! recipients, providers, fiscal agent, Deputy Attorney Generals,! and the Department of Administration Appeals Office; prepare template letters and forms; send, receive and distribute faxes; photo copy documents; complete filing as assigned; archive files at assigned intervals; maintain professional and courteous telephone etiquette; order unit office supplies; and create and organize case files. Additionally, this position assists the Hearings Unit staff with case processing; document organization; receiving, reviewing and evaluating all recipient Fair Hearing requests; data entry and maintenance of the Hearings Unit database; and screening the Hearings Unit dedicated phone line according to program type and referring calls to the appropriate staff for follow-up. This is a new position with a projected start date of October 1, 2013 To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equival! ent education and two years of clerical and administrative support experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintaining records and files; preparing a variety of materials using a personal computer or word processor; assisting customers in completing forms and applications; and/or performing secretarial duties in support of professional staff; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Requirements A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
