Sr. Claims Examiner - California Workers' Compensation

Analyze complex or technically difficult claims to determine benefits due; ensure ongoing adjudication of claims w! ithin company standards, industry best practices and specific client service requirements; and manage subrogation of claims and negotiate settlements up to designated authority level.
Analyze and process complex claims by investigating and gathering information to determine the exposure on the claim; managing claims through well-developed action plan to an appropriate and timely resolution.
Calculate and assign timely and appropriate reserves to claims; adjust timely as file facts change.
Calculate and pays benefits due; approve and make timely payments and adjustments.
Manage the litigation process; ensure timely and cost effective claim resolution.
Manage actions of all professionals involved in a claim, including attorneys, nurse case managers, and investigators, in order to achieve a successful resolution of the claim.
Communicate claim activity and processing with the injured worker and insured/agent; maintain professional client relationships. !
Field phone calls with highest-level customer service and ! best claim practices, attempt to handle all inquiries or action items on a claim in a timely manner.
Position Requirements:
Candidates must have five years of claims examiner experience and a Self-Insurance Certificate, or the ability to pass Self-Insurance Test.
IEA Classes, WCCP a plus.
Proficient in oral and written communication.
In-depth knowledge of California Workers Compensation law.
Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills .
PC literate, including Microsoft Office products .
Strong organizational skills .
Excellent negotiating skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Candidates must be self-motivated and require little supervision.
