Legal Secretaries perform specialized secretarial duties for attorneys, administrative law judges, and/or hearings officers. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency suffici! ent to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is with the Nevada Division of Hearing and Appeals in Las Vegas, and may serve as a roaming secretary to assist with extended absences, fill future vacancies and/or ROA Clerk duties. Judicial secretary to AO responsible for calendaring duties including reset dates, notices, and of stacked and time certain hearings.
Direct AO liaison for telephone status checks responsible for informing AO of case status for instruction. Provides skilled legal clerical support; creating and monitoring all court correspondence, pleadings, motions, orders, resets, stipulations, petitions for judicial review, application and decisions for AO signature. Distinguish priorities and route files to the appropriate courtroom, monitor court reporters and interpreters, and note all changes on AO daily calendar. Acts as AO liaison to the general public, attorneys, laymen, employer representatives.

To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of clerical experience, two of which were performing progressively responsible legal secretarial work in a training capacity; OR one year of experience as a Legal Secretary I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes An Associate of Science degree with a legal secretarial emphasis is equivalent to one year of legal secretarial trainee experience. Completion of a legal secretarial diploma program from an accredited business college is equivalent to one year of legal secretarial trainee experience! .
