Meadowbrook operates insurance agenci! es, a risk management company that provides services to self-insured groups, funds and pools, and operates 4 domestic and 1 foreign insurance company. We are currently looking for a full time WC Claims Trainee to join our Las Vegas, NV branch office.Position Summary: To learn through self-study training modules and hands-on learning experiences to adjust insurance claims productively and skillfully. Verify coverage, investigate losses, evaluate claim, set reserves negotiate settlements or deny payment where no coverage, liability or compensability exists.Job duties include but are not limited to: Demonstrate the ability to verify coverage and determine compensability-Workers Compensation. Take recorded statements and identify need for field investigations. Identify potential for third party liability and proceed toward recovery. Maintain diary system, current plan of action and organized files. Adhere to assigned authority limits for reserving and payments (including settle! ments). Issue medical, disability and other benefit or policy ! required payments. Devise clear and logical action plans that will promote prompt, cost effective resolution of claim files. Adjust a caseload of assigned files under close supervision after successful completion of training program. Demonstrate the ability to identify and thoroughly investigate all possible recovery and subrogation opportunities revealed in the claims handled. Respond to all treating physicians and attorney requests in a prompt and professional manner, within statue and office policy timeframes. File all state and/or federal forms and reports in accordance with the statutory guidelines. Process all medial and indemnity payments within statutory and/or office policy timeframes. Conduct preliminary scene investigations (fire, accident, burglary, etc.) under close supervision. Under close supervision, trainees will be expected to manually or electronically document their files in a timely fashion with all appropriate information. This documentation must be co! mplete and professional. The associate should be mindful of their duty to protect both the interest of our policyholder and of Meadowbrook Insurance Group by documenting in a legally accepted, factual manner at all times.
Bachelors Degree or equivalent industry related coursework. Proven experience in customer service. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to make presentations to groups of all sizes. Superior problem-solving ability. Thorough knowledge of claim procedures, policies, terminology, etc. Ability to determine solutions to disputed issues that satisfy organizational objectives. Ability to learn, retain, and clearly explain to others, complex issues of medicine, law and investigative techniques. Ability to prioritize, organize and plan work for self. Ability to acquire a valid State adjusting license when and where applicable. Bilingual, Spanish preferred. Computer proficient with Microsoft Office programs, such as Word, Excel and ! Outlook.
