Responsible for retrofit and repair of boiler systems, utilizing knowledge of atmospheric and power system boiler operation, pipe fitting, and mechanical layouts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Service and adjust burners and controls in boilers found in light industry and commercial facilities.
Possesses knowledge of all boiler systems.
Performs combustion analysis and adjust fuel to air ratios.
Responsible for servicing boilers on assigned projects and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Repairs, overhauls, retubes, and performs procedures associated with maintenance and start-up of commercial boiler systems.
Uses a variety of hand tools, following blueprints, wiring diagrams, piping schemes or engineering specifications, to diagnose and repair boilers..
Identifies, analyzes, diagnoses, and repairs systems and products at customer's location.
Performs preventative maintenance, site surveys, replacement, and modifications as needed or requested by customers.
Prepares for on-site installation and repairs by examining building layout, anticipating difficulties, gathering materials and coordinating on-site work, as necessary.
Maintains tools and equipment by inspecting for signs of wear.
Documents work by completing paperwork on each job and maintaining files.
Represents company by serving as a direct customer contact.
Determines parts to order for repairs and timeliness of need.
Keeps current on boiler systems concerning installation, operation, maintenance, service, and repair.
Provides technical support to customers.
May travel to some work sites with occasional overnight travel.
Flexibility to work overtime/weekends, as required.
Performs other related work as required.
REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver's license
License preferred (e.g., HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)
Post high school training and at least five years of boiler maintenance and repair or related experience.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
