Description: Nevada Employee Action and Timekeeping System is presently looking of IT PROFESSIONAL III - INFORMATION SECURITY OFFICER right now, this occupation will be dwelled in Nevada. Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency. Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups.

Information Security Officer for Department of Public Safety (DPS) in Las Vegas. Duties include: technical security auditing of internal DPS sites and external criminal justice agencies such as police; district attorneys, courts, etc.; technical network and systems monitoring; and develop, review, modify, implement and train on security policies and procedures. Qualified applicant should have skills in: packet analysis; network and device forensics; organizational skills; group presentations; and written and verbal communication skills. Linux background is a plus.

To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and three years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, applications analyst and development, and/or information security, one year of which was at the journey level; OR one year of relevant experience as an IT Professional II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Applicants for positions in this series may have a combination of complementary education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that qualify for the class level and specialty being recruited. International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium, Inc., (ISC2) - Certified Information System Security Professional (CISSP_ is equivalent to three years of experience.

Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA) - Certified Information Security Manager (CISM) is equivalent to two years of experience. Global Information Assurance Certification (GIAC) - Security Expert is equivalent to two years of experience. Other nationally recognized information security certifications may be substituted for up to one year of experience. Nevada Information Security Professional (NISP) or CISSP certification must be obtained within 12 months of appointment and maintained as a condition of continuing employment.

Special Requirements Pursuant to NRS 284.4066, this position has been identified as affecting public safety. Persons offered employment in this position must submit to a pre-employment screening for controlled substances. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Statewide travel is required.
