Program Officers perform administrative work in planning, coordinating, and directing a comprehensive program or program function for a specific clientele. Incumbents possess a degree of knowled! ge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training. This position is located within the Parole Board in Carson City. The incumbent of this position will review Pardons Applications for eligibility and correspond with applicants regarding the status of applications; maintain Pardons Board website; interpret and apply rules and regulations in order to respond to Pardons Board inquiries; interpret sentence structure for eligibility; prepare requests for investigations and statement of facts and notify Judges, District Attorney's and victims of the time and place for Pardons Board Hearings. The incumbent will act as support staff for t! he Pardons Board; prepare and issue Board agendas; coordinate ! Board meeting dates with members while following Open Meeting Law processes; speak at public meetings as needed; prepare packets for Pardons Board meetings; arrange for a court reporter and interpreters as needed; record motions and actions taken at hearings and prepare a final order detailing the action taken for the Pardons Board's approval. The incumbent will be involved in the Legislative rule making process on behalf of the Pardons Board and will be required to testify on Legislative bills affecting the Board.
The incumbent will also monitor and manage the Parole Board's legal files, request legal representation for Board members, correspond with and be the liaison to the Attorney General's Office regarding the Board's legal representation. This incumbent will monitor and manage lifetime supervision, set agendas, schedule hearings and work with the Division of Parole and Probation to receive all required information for the hearings; print and submit lifetime ! supervision orders, handle all correspondence regarding lifetime supervision. To see full Class Specifications visit: To Qualify: In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements: Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications) Graduation from an accredited four year college or university in public administration or a related field; OR graduation from high school or the equivalent and four years of previous experience either performing or assisting in the planning, coordinating or administering of a program; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Special Notes Subject to emergency call back and/or stand-by.
Travel 10% of the time. Special Requirements A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to! pay for these items.
A State of Nevada/FBI background check w! ill be required of the selected applicant. Additional Position Experience Experience with Nevada specific OTIS (Offender Tracking Information System) and NOTIS Experience with initiating investigations and interpreting sentence structure in regards to eligibility for Parole. Experience with Nevada specific Open Meeting Law processes to include preparing agendas and speaking in public forums. Experience in Nevada Sex Offender Lifetime Supervision via case work, condition setting or agenda/file management.
