This examination will establish a list to fill current and/or future part-time vacancies for the District Attorney's Office and Administrative Services. Part-time employment will not lea! d to permanent employment. Part-time hourly employees are used to fill positions normally that will work a maximum of twenty (20) hours per week. Part-time employees do not receive benefits.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Experience: Equivalent to graduation from high school and one (1) year of professional experience as a commissioned law enforcement officer, which may include experience as a military or federal police officer or investigator; or experience exercising the powers of a peace officer; AND possess a valid Nevada Peace Officers' Standards and Training - P.O.S.T. Category II (or higher) certification at time of hire. Additional experience in dealing with the public is desirable.
Licensing and Certification: Must possess a valid Nevada Peace Officers' Standards and Training - P.O.S.T. Category II (or higher) certification at time of hire. Qualification is required for duty weapons and other weapons and devices inclu! ding, without limitation: batons, sprays, and electronic contr! ol devices. Failure to satisfactorily complete required training shall be proper cause for termination. CPR Certification is desirable.
Medical Examination: Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination performed by our examining physician.
Pre-Employment Drug Testing: Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug examination.
Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Examples of Duties
Operates and/or monitors X-Ray scanner, metal detector, and security gate as required. Patrols buildings and grounds, inspects for evidence of unauthorized entry or use, fire or fire threat, vandalism and theft. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. Attends restricted use parking lots, determi! nes eligibility of persons to use parking lots, police/fire department. Provides information and directs the public to desired services. Monitors automated security system controlling employee card access to include: remote cameras, fire alarms, elevator alarms, and building control systems for HVAC, and utilities. Opens and locks secured areas and facilities. Completes required forms and logs. May assist others in transporting detainees to and from the courtroom, holding cells, and vehicles. May administer basic first aid or CPR if required. May execute warrants of arrest as assigned by the court.
May also be required to monitor the Board of County Commissioners and Zoning Commission Meetings.

Ability to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment, strenght to lift materials weighing up to 50 pounds, vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech ! to communicate in person or over the telephone. Strength to effectively! subdue and/or remove persons in difficult or emergency situations.
