The Senior Legal Services Specialist is responsible for the following:
Manage privacy and security breach notification, reporting, and tracking, update privacy policies and procedures, and draft and maintain HIPAA Business Associate Agreements;
Supervise and coordinate the health plans’ business operations’ compliance with UHG’s Data Release Governance program and annual recertification process
Assist with the Regulatory Change Management process including drafting compliance bulletins and monitoring implementation
Research statutes, regulations, and court decisions and prepare summaries of findings to assist attorneys with routine to complex legal issues
Draft responses and p! roduce documents in response to internal and external audit re! quests
Investigate, document findings and draft responses to privacy and ethics and compliance reports/complaints received through the hotline, the plans’ Customer Response and Resolution Department, and governmental agencies
Assist with various state filings; and Develop HIPAA Privacy and Compliance training materials (PowerPoint, quarterly reports and handouts).

Requirements
Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience or Legal Assistant/Paralegal Certificate or Associates Degree in legal/paralegal studies
Intermediate MS Office skills including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
2+ years of experience in paralegal or legal services in a corporate and/or law firm setting
Experience with HIPAA Privacy and Security Rules and working in the healthcare or managed care industry is highly preferred
Ability to think strategically and analyze issues
! Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work in a team environment; and
Excellent negotiation, writing, and verbal communication skills
